I waited with baited breath for the UPS girl as I'd heard a lot about the Harmony One. I have a basket in my living room which has been dubbed the remote boat. It houses the remotes for both my video players (tape and DVD), my Sony Bravia, my CD player and my Bose Wave Radio. I have the sound for my TV running through my Bose, so I have to use two remotes every time I adjust the volume and that Bose remote is so tiny it's always getting lost. So I was ready to take a step into the new millennium and get a universal remote.



The UPS girl arrived, I opened the box, took out the remote and let me tell you, it is very cool looking. I read the directions and shook my head, it couldn't be this easy, no way José, but it was. I put the disc that came with the remote into my Mac, told the software what my equipment was and that was the hardest part of the whole procedure, getting the model numbers off my stuff and that wasn't that hard, pretty darned easy actually.



After the software learned what I had, it asked me a few simple questions, what I did with my stuff, I told it. Then the software downloaded the info into my remote via a USB cable and I was good to go. Really it was that simple, dead on easy it was. Now when I want to adjust the volume, jump a chapter or two on my DVD player, I just use the Harmony One, very cool.

High End Sound but Low End Price by D. League
These have all of the quality of Jamo's best speakers including the tweeter which is on their best. Right out of the box, the speakers sound very good. After 12 hours the bass is deeper and the midrange is clean and accurate. This is not a cheap surround speaker but a first class stand alone set, which is where I have mine, on my desk. However, two pairs of these and the 400CEN center speaker and you have a very high quality surround system for $240. Anybody in their right mind would buy at least a pair, but at this price maybe several pairs.

Got mine last night. Didn't take too long to setup and it automatically adjusts all your speaker volume settings with the included microphone. Sounds pretty good, its just a little light on bass. The only downside is that theres only 2 HDMI inputs and its not in my Harmony One's device database yet.

Good product - once you get it set up by Cecilia Case
It's not so much that it is difficult to set up, just incredible time consuming. The wizard format of the software is HORRIBLE. Logitech do you hear me? Do some freaking Usability Testing already.



That said, once you go through the two days of fiddling with it, it works like a charm, easy peasy. Occasionally it won't turn everything on correctly, but pressing help always... helps. I would say I have a medium complex system, and I didn't have to do much manual setup, except with my XBMC media server. But even that works great now.

100 times better than APEX, so far. by zmuff
This converter box was easy to set up, the remote actually works(the apex one did NOT), picture quality was excellant(never on the apex box) up until a week ago but it seems to clear up by itself after a coupel minutes(hope that does not mean it is starting to go out already)... What I really miss are the features that are available on my Insignia converter box, which by the way still works perfectly after 1-1/2 years... I will keep the Zinwell though, it was half the price of Insignia...

Pioneer VSX-9040THX by R. Lynch
About a month ago, I bought a Pioneer VSX-9040THX amplifier/tuner, instead of the Pioneer VSX-1090AHK, because of current availability, better features, an outstanding user review and it was the same price as the 1090. It is an excellent, feature-rich unit for the price. Sound quality is unbelievable! The multiple HDMI ports made setup easy and quick. The port descriptions are user-assignable and are displayed on the GUI. As stated in other reviews, the Pioneer remote control has very small, difficult-to-see and use buttons. As a work-around, I bought a LogiTech Harmony Universal Remote. This programmable, universal remote solves the small button issue and automates the start up and shut down of all my equipment. One issue I am having (and it may be a LogiTech remote setup issue on my part) is, if another device (CD, DVD, etc) was used just prior to switching to the TV, the 9040 does not automatically select the HDMI input port for the DirecTV receiver. I have to manually make the selection using the Pioneer remote, or use the amplifier's front panel switch. Another issue is that the amplifier will default to "Stereo" on start-up, instead of "Surround Sound". Again, this may be an error on my initial setup of the amplifier or the LogiTech remote. The manual is extensive and easy to understand, but in order to take advantage of all of the unit's many features, you will need to study the manual in detail. The price and service from Amazon.com was exceptional! It was in-stock and shipped without delay. Would I purchase this unit again from Amazon.com? Absolutely!

I was entirely ready to purchase the Sony HT-CT500 from Amazon when I decided to go into the local HHGregg to hear it first. When I went got there, I was very underwhelmed by the Sony system. I started to look around at other options in the $400 - $500 range and found the Yamaha YHT-S400. I saw it on the internet a few days earlier but was reluctant to pursue it due to lack of customer reviews. Once I saw the very sleek soundbar in person, and heard the exceptional sound quality customary with Yamaha products, I just had to have it.



Setup was a breeze on my Mitsubishi LT46244 Television. I connected my home theater PC and satellite box using HDMI. I left my Wii connected to the a component input on my television. Then, I came back out of my TV with a standard RCA audio patch cable so the Wii and Antenna sound could be routed to the receiver. Unfortunately, the unit does not have a digital coaxial audio input, as that is the only digital out on my television. I used the NET Command system built in to my television to control the power and source switching on the Yamaha receiver unit. Everything works great together with using only the remote from my television.



The sound quality is exactly what you would expect from Yamaha. The highs are very crisp and clean. The lows are nice and really add a punch to a good action sequence. The surround sound simulation is actually pretty good as well. I wasn't expecting much in this department so I was pleasantly surprised when it actually gave a sense of surround sound.

Just purchased this home theater system ("HTS") to compliment my recently purchased Sony Bravia 46KDLW5100 LCD TV and my Sony Bravia BDP-360 Blu-Ray player. All I can say is, WOW! This was the first time I have ever purchased/owned a HTS and I am blown away. Set-up was easy (if you can follow simple instructions), the sound is incredible, and the system overall looks wonderful. Since I already had a Blu-Ray player hooked up to my TV via HDMI cable from the player to the TV, I decided to run a digital optical cable from the HTS receiver to the TV in order to get sound when watching Blu-Ray movies. It works perfectly and the cord was only 7 bucks or so. *Please Note* You will most likely need to go into your audio settings menu on your Blu-Ray player/TV to adjust a setting or two to make sure the sound is coming through at full volume i.e. I had to go to the audio settings on my Blu-Ray player and switch the BD audio to "Direct" in order to get the full sound coming through to the speakers.



Overall, the system is an incredible value for the money and if you purchase this system, you surely will not be disappointed.

Everything I wanted in a Receiver by Erik Raudsep
Ease of set up is my only issue and not to make the unit function it's the speaker adjustment microphone that comes with it that I found difficult to use. However after some playing around with it I got it to work fine. Sound quality is great and shipping was fast and in pristine condition which was one of my major concerns. I have seen what UPS can do to a box. The amount of inputs on this receiver make it totally worth if for anybody with the plethora of devices now getting hooked up to the TV and I still have more room to add more which I am sure will be coming down the road.
